William McELHINNEY

William trained at Canterbury School of Architecture and the Mackintosh School of Architecture. He qualified and worked as an architect, but drawing was always his main passion and always with a precise, technical edge. His first commissioned work was for Watermark Publications / Birkhäuser, creating drawings for a book on Foster + Partners’ Commerzbank building. This project, created in the time-honoured fashion of pen and tracing paper, led to William spending many years being commissioned to record contemporary architecture for books and magazines. The focus of William’s work is now technical illustration, which allows him to pursue and develop his love for classic technical automotive art.
