Hannah LOBLEY
Motorsport Magazine | Sculptural Plate | Artwork
This decorative plate made by local artist Hannah Lobley for Historic Car Art started life as a pile of original Motorsport Magazines.
Each page is layered and transformed back into a solid wood-like material. Then the material is worked using traditional woodworking techniques, in this case turning on a lathe.
This particular plate has been made from 1970's magazines featuring Martini Sponsored cars - Porsche and Brabham.
Each plate is a totally unique one-off piece of art.
To commission a unique plate using motorsport magazine from any year 1959 to 2004 please contact us. Leadtime approx. 4 weeks.

Hannah LOBLEY
Hannah Lobley developed her technique and the award-winning Paperwork when she accidentally left a book out in the rain. Even though she couldn’t read it again Hannah couldn’t face throwing away the ruined book.
Having specialised in woodwork during her art degree the thought that paper originates from wood led Hannah to transfer her woodworking skills to paper and development of this new material - Paperwork. With recycling as a core belief Hannah now creates artwork using the printed pages of unwanted books and magazines.
Each piece starts with making the material. Each page is layered and transformed back into a solid wood-like material. Then the material is worked using traditional woodworking techniques. The unique patterns echoing the wood grain created on each piece can never be recreated making each one unique. “Ultimately wood becomes paper becomes wood again” says Hannah.
