REVS ART | Adam GOMPERTZ
Ford GT40 Endurance Mk 1 | Art Print
1965 Ford GT 40 Mk1
Chassis 1007 built in August 1965 - a car that allocated to Ford of France and therefore painted in appropriate colours. Exhibited that same year in the Monza Racing Car show and Paris Salon, and appearing in film, it wasn’t to begin racing until 1966. It retired at leMans that year after 15 hours, scored 6th place at the Monza 1000 Km, won its class at the Targa Florio, and won twice at Montlhery. After being fitted with later bodywork, and uprated engine by Ford Advanced Vehicles in Slough, it went on to reach in 1967, finishing third in class (10th overall) at the Nurburgring, and a class win and 6th overall at the Monza 1000 Km. The artist saw it on display at the 2020 Concours of Elegance held at Hampton Court Palace, one of a few events to go ahead in the year of lockdown and the Covid Pandemic.
This collection of artworks by Adam Gompertz homages the Canson Renderings of the 1950's and 1960's American designers.
These designers used the coloured Canson ™ coloured paper as the base tone of the illustration enabling highlights to be shown very effectively in the design studio.

REVS ART | Adam GOMPERTZ
Former car designer turned Church of England Pioneer Minister, Adam Gompertz has been passionate about cars from a very early age.
Over a career of 10 years Adam worked as a designer for MG Rover, Dubois Yachts, Design Storz and the Bespoke division of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars. In 2011 he put down the marker pens and took up a bible, training to be a Church of England Minister. But the love of motor cars has never left him, and since 2015 he has been exploring how to combine the worlds of faith and cars. He sums it all up by saying;
‘I am a lover of many things Automotive and of a creator God , who delights in creation and beauty. My artwork is a way of combining the two – giving thanks to my creator and enjoying the process of creation.”
REVS Art is part of the result. Using skills developed in the design studio, Adam’s work marries a technical element with the warmth of gentle colour. He draws most often in a Bic Biro, applies the chalk pastel with a cotton pad (after softening it with Talcum powder). In his artistic development and style he is inspired by the work of Gordon Crosby and Bob Freeman.
REVS art is part of the whole REVS project – a way in which the Church engages with the Classic car community. This has led to the formation of REVS Limiter, an award winning online car community Adam and others started during lockdown, and which now has over 7000 members. REVS also has a number of small groups meeting in ‘Cars and coffee’ style get togethers.
