Dexter BROWN
Cavallino Rampante | Poster
A Pullman Editions poster by Dexter Brown. Originally emblazoned on the SPAD XIII fighter of Francesco Baracca, ace of aces shot down during the Great War, the equine emblem was adopted by Ferrari at the suggestion of the airman’s mother, Countess Paolina: “Ferrari, why don’t you put my son’s rampant horse on your car? It will bring you luck.” Black was the colour retained for the thoroughbred’s image, but use of the original gold field, the colour of Modena, was all Enzo Ferrari’s idea.
Overall size (cm): 97.0 x 65.5

Dexter BROWN
Dexter Brown is one of the UK's leading motoring artists. His motoring art ranges from near photographic to completely abstract. Dexter Brown has painted cars from the early days of motoring up to the present time but his 'alter-ego' de Bryune confines himself to the golden period of motoring up to the Second World War.
Always keen on cars and motor racing Dexter started doing studies whilst at Harrow Art College. Excellent use of colour and the technique of splitting the cars into shapes with strong lines is a characteristic of his art.
In his early period (1960's) his works were hung on the walls of the Steering Wheel Club in London and this resulted in many sales and commissions for motor racing posters; many original examples of these can be found in our original vintage posters section.
